Palm & Lotus partnered with Straight Drive North to rebuild their website on a more flexible and sustainable platform, replacing a basic Wix site that no longer supported the needs of the business.
The goal was to create a refined, easy-to-manage website that showcased the artist’s work while providing a more professional and trustworthy online presence.

When “Free” Isn’t
The original website was built on a free Wix platform that offered limited functionality and became increasingly costly without providing meaningful control or flexibility. The client was unable to easily update the site and lacked confidence in managing it independently.
In addition, the website needed to stand apart from others in the industry, where many businesses rely solely on social media, by providing a more structured and professional experience for potential clients.
We focused on creating a clean, visually driven website that prioritized the artist’s work while improving usability and long-term flexibility.
This included transitioning to a platform the client could fully own and manage, simplifying the backend experience, and designing a layout that allowed content to breathe while guiding users clearly through the site.

Straight Drive North is a Canadian studio led by artist Jill, specializing in hand-painted signage, watercolour artwork, and calligraphy for weddings and events. Her work blends fine art with custom design, requiring a platform that allows her portfolio to be the primary focus.
