Seasonal Campaign System & Promotional Design
intro.
Preparing to fly
For the Richard Eaton Singers’ 2017/2018 season, we developed a visual campaign built around animals and layered imagery to reflect the emotional arc of the programming. Each piece was designed to stand on its own while still contributing to a connected seasonal story.
the challenge.
This season’s music carried weight
The challenge was to create artwork that could carry themes of struggle, memory, and resilience without feeling overly literal. Duruflé’s Requiem required a sense of grief and remembrance, while the Brahms & Schubert needed to feel lighter, freer, and more hopeful. The designs needed to feel distinct, but still visually connected.
For Duruflé’s Requiem, we used a lark in flight, inspired by the line “the larks, still bravely singing, fly” from In Flanders Fields. Dark trees and trench imagery were layered into the bird’s wings and body to convey the weight of war, memory, and the struggle for peace.
For the Brahms & Schubert, we shifted to a butterfly rising above the same dark forest imagery seen within the lark. Here, the mood brightens as the butterfly emerges into light, reflecting freedom, transformation, and release after hardship.

outcome and impact.
Season artwork that deepened the emotional arc of the music
The final campaign gave the season a cohesive and memorable visual identity, helping each concert feel emotionally distinct while connected by a shared narrative. Through symbolic imagery and subtle progression, the designs became part of the storytelling itself.
